wCap – Women Capital

The past year has been eventful, we founded #wCap, an investment management and advisory firm, to address the problems that women owned/led businesses face when moving into the next stage of growth. The inception process started in the midst of the #covid pandemic forcing us to do almost 90 percent of our work remotely. With the support of institutional partners like Prospero Zambia we were able to work with businesses from various sectors including FMCG, agribusiness, light manufacturing, interior decoration and design, management consulting, microfinance and property development. We are proud to say all businesses concluded our advisory process successfully and are currently in the process of completing their strategic growth plans for the next 12-18 months. Eligible businesses have now graduated to the capital raising stage of our advisory process.

For the year ahead we will focus on working with businesses from across the Sub Saharan Africa region and opening up our criteria to include businesses that create products for women or have a large female staff complement in their business. We will soon be announcing a call for applications for this in the next few weeks. We look forward to working with women from Zambia and across the continent.
